Jessica Joslin

I just found this artist that creates sculptures of animals using bone, some real and some fake, and brass/antique hardwares.  Her work combines mom's ceramic figures and dad's taxidermy animals in a way that is breathtaking. Not only do the animals have many various parts all attached in different ways but some of them even have mechanisms in them so their heads, mouths, tails or body can be put in different positions.

I think what draws me to her work the most is the use of birds.  I have always had this weird attraction to birds and insects ever since I was little.  I also love the fact that her sculptures range in size from 1 inch to almost 6 feet tall.

I'm in a Photo Show

I know I haven't posted anything in awhile.  With all of my finals and getting used to being home for the summer I haven't really had much time...but I now have a great reason to post!

Prints That I Have Been Working On....

These first few prints are for my Digital Drawing Class.  We use different programs to create imagery and then we take it into Photoshop and make large scale prints from it.  It comes out pretty sweet sometimes.

These next prints are things that I have been working on in my spare time.  I hope to print them and use them in a show sometime next semester.

Andy Warhol

This is a film called, "Blow Job" by Andy Warhol that I saw a few years ago and was reminded of this weekend. Check it out.

Keith Haring

I went on a trip to Pittsburgh this weekend with my sculpture class.  It was exciting and we went to the Andy Warhol Museum.  There I saw this sculpture of an elephant by one of my favorite artists, Keith Haring.  I love his take on the human shape with a more stylized stick figure and his use of color was obviously inspired by Warhol's pop art but still has a sense of something different, his own take on them.  He has also conquer tons of art forms from canvas paintings and murals to sculpture and ceramic work.  He  has even painted on live models and had his work turned into tons of clothing.  I love it and I hope you enjoy it too!

Robert Bateman

I came across Robert Bateman's work a few years ago.  I love the realism he brings to his paintings and the research he does to get each animal and thier environment correct.  His work is simply beautiful.

Kenneth Anger

I saw this film in my time class last year and I fell in love.  I love the undertones of homosexuality.  Even though his other films get a little sadistic, I really like this one.  Enjoy!
