BFA Thesis Exhibition

Everything has a color and every one is unique. Color can become representations of objects seen in everyday life or something out of this world. It changes, moves, and reacts. The color pallets of my work tend to be broad, using almost every color so that no color overwhelms the entire painting or becomes a focal point. The range also allows me to take advantage of the distinctive characteristics of color mentioned above.

Along with everything having a color, they also have a texture. The backside of an air conditioner is a different texture than a shag rug from the 70’s. The paintings become objects with their own unique textures. Through the process of painting I discover the texture paint can become and how it can be mimicked using non-traditional materials.

Organizational systems become the backbone and starting point of each of the artworks. They start with something I have observed, the shape a liquid makes when dripped on fabric or a number of tragic occurrences, which are organized into a system of creating. The systems tend to be shaped quickly and then implemented. The purity of color, texture, and material flow through the systems and become structures within them.
